365 Days of a Picture

Thank you Thank you Thank you

October 16th 2011

Last year on this day i was working two jobs in my small hometown in Colorado.  I was getting water ready in a large bucket to make dough when i saw my hand down at the bottom and it looked cool (Day 1).  I thought what the hell, im going to go to my car to get my camera.  At the same moment i figured, hell i will try out a 365 project, this seems like a good start.  With no plan, no motive, just right then and there i decided to start the project i had wanted to pursue ever since i attended college.  In the one year span i photographed occurrences, objects, people and moments.  Some things were long drawn and heart felt like my grandmother being moved to a nursing home (Days 89, 90 94, 111, 138, 144, 147) some were sheer moments of happiness like my dad winning a super bowl bet (Day 114) or time spent with Crystal (Day 179, 219, 252).  The focus was simple, my everyday life spent with family, friends and myself.  During the process i learned a lot about photography but even more about the person i am and how i carry myself.  The amount i have learned from simply striving to take a picture everyday is pretty amazing when i think about it.  Doing the project was always interesting when unexpected things would happen like the death of Bin Laden (Day 199) and the move out to China (Days 299 and beyond).

This 365 project was completed using 8 different cameras.

Earlier today i took my last photograph to wrap up the project, a picture of a sweet girl i see every day as i head out into town.  During the project in late September i used my Holga Fisheye camera and i had 6  POD's on there before Joe my brother accidentally exposed the roll of film. Instead of saying the project was shot he suggested a solution stemming from the sport of baseball.  In baseball when a game is rained out and cannot be played on that day they do makeup games called "Rain delays."  So I am going to do some rain delay photo's to make up for the lost film, but other then that this project is complete.  I will be posting images in short fragments, about 3 to 5 everytime i update so you guys can catch up slowly.

I would like to thank everybody involved in the project whether you were actually on Picture of the Day or simply by looking at it. If you too like taking pictures i suggest trying to accomplish this project, it is so fun and you learn so much about yourself.  Once again thank you so much, and as the project is coming into its final turn please keep stopping by as i update!
